Clara Zipperer Guerry

Clara Zipperer Guerry, 90, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 3, 2007.

Born in Effingham County, Georgia, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Thomas Herbert Guerry, Jr., her grandson Robert Guerry Beam and her son-in-law Kirby Franklin Beam. Mrs. Guerry was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and a founding member of Circle No.9; she was also a member of the Georgia Salzburger Society, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She loved her church and family and took a sincere interest in everyone she met. Her home became a center of welcome and refreshment for friends of all ages. Everyone considered her an attentive listener with a generous heart.

Boom-Boo, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. She loved to travel and never lost her enthusiasm for trying new things.

Mrs. Guerry is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Herbert Guerry, III and Janet Miller Guerry and a daughter, Lynda Guerry Beam, all of Savannah; a sister Ruth Zipperer Branch of Baton Rouge, LA, and a sister-in-law Elsie Guerry Martin of Savannah; grandchildren: Lindy and Joey Wheat, Elizabeth and Michael Poole, Tom and Kathy Guerry and Andrew Roberts all of Savannah; Sarah Guerry of Morgantown, WV; great-grandchildren: Matthew Gardner, Rynne Ambrose, Mary Poole, Will Wheat, Kirby Wheat, Alyssa Guerry; and many nieces and nephews.
